News - August 2017

Phenny is one of the girls who have benefitted enormously from the library project Zest for Life set up at Innis Education Centre.  A keen reader she was the top student at Innis in 2013 and began her studies at NG’IYA High School in February 2014.

The school is 120km from her home being on the far west side of Kenya.  Her Year 1, Term 1 score of A- put her in the top 10% in her year group. Phenny is now in her final year, still wants to be a doctor (a neurosurgeon) and has consistently achieved high marks during her time at Ng’iya.  She’s just written to say that at the end of Term 2, 2017 she came 2nd out of the 301 girls in her year.  Phenny and her mother Nehemiah send greetings to all our sponsors without whom she would not have had this life changing opportunity.

Martin Ogondi has written to tell us that he is now permanently employed by the Kenyan Teacher Service Commission as a trained teacher.

His message continues: “Thank you so much for all the support you have continually accorded me”.

He and his wife Winnie are also expecting their first child in October.

Martin is a fantastic role model for our other students and a real credit to our sponsorship programme.
